Dusty Demerson

Biography

Dusty’s interest in photography began in high school and continued into college where he graduated with a BA in photojournalism. He produced award-winning work for several newspapers in Oklahoma before adding portrait and wedding photography to his quiver of skills. All the while, his true passion lay in photographing the landscape. After moving to Crested Butte, Colorado in 1987 his efforts at capturing compelling landscapes were rewarded with several group and one-man shows as well as permanent gallery representation. Dusty continues to refine his techniques and vision while sharing his work through numerous publications and online. Dusty's work has been awarded two First Place Awards at Banff Mountain Photography Competition as well as three Special Mention awards there. He has received a Best of Category award at the Western Heritage Art Invitational in Duncan, Oklahoma and a Bronze Medal in the Hasselblad Super Circuit. His work can be seen at the Rijks Family Gallery in Crested Butte, Colorado, Alpenglow Gallery in Mount Crested Butte and at the Crested Butte Festival of the Arts.
